The Turkic International Mathematical Olympiad (TIMO) is a premier international mathematics competition for students in Grades 3–12. Launched in 2019, it has grown into a global platform that fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills while promoting cultural and intellectual exchange.

It all begins with the Preliminary Round—a 90-minute online multiple-choice exam (25 questions for Grades 3–10; 25 advanced questions in 120 minutes for Grades 11–12). Scoring follows +4 for correct, –1 for incorrect, and 0 for blanks, with awards ranging from Honorable Mention to Gold.

Top performers qualify for the Global Round, held in an international host country such as Baku, Azerbaijan. Here, finalists compete in advanced problem-solving challenges while connecting with peers from around the world.

Register for the National Round
  1. Register for the National Round

    Sign up through Contest Bag to join TIMO. Pick the February round, secure your place, and get ready to compete in the Olympiad.

    Each grade level has a clear syllabus of topics. Review carefully—they are key to preparing for the challenge.

  3. Practice with Resources

    Your account includes access to past papers for your grade. Use them to build confidence and sharpen your skills.

  4. Review Your Performance

    Practice tests help you measure your progress before the real event. They give you confidence and show you where you need to improve.

  5. Compete in the National Round

    Take the official online test and prove your math ability. This stage decides who qualifies for the TIMO Global Round.

  6. Advance to the Global Finals

    Top achievers qualify for the Global Round in Baku, Azerbaijan. There, finalists compete internationally and celebrate their success with awards.

TIMO begins with the Preliminary Round, continues through National Selections, and concludes with the Global Finals.

Start your TIMO journey with the national online test. Answer multiple-choice math questions tailored to your grade. Earn certificates, medals, and the chance to qualify for the Global Round.

2. Get Your Result

If your score is above 40%, you are qualified for the Global Event in Azerbaijan.

3. Global Finals

Travel to the host city—such as Baku, Azerbaijan—to face challenging problems alongside international peers. Celebrate diversity, win awards, and gain worldwide recognition.

TIMO is open to students from Grade 3 to Grade 12. Each grade competes using a syllabus designed for their level.

02. What domains are tested in TIMO?

The Olympiad focuses on mathematics and logical reasoning, including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, probability, combinatorics, and advanced topics for higher grades.

03. How is TIMO structured?

TIMO has two rounds: the Preliminary (Local) Round (online) and the Global Round (in-person, hosted internationally).

04. How long is the test and how many questions are there?

  • Grades 3–10: 25 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes

  • Grades 11–12 (Senior Secondary): 25 advanced questions in 120 minutes

05. How is the scoring system?

Correct answers: +4 points, incorrect answers: –1 point, blanks: 0 points. Maximum score: 100.

06. What awards are given?

Participants receive certificates and medals:

  • Gold (Top 8%)

  • Silver (Next 15%)

  • Bronze (Next 30%)

  • Honourable Mention (40–49 points)
    All other participants receive a Participation Certificate.

The Global Round is held in an international host city (e.g., Baku, Azerbaijan). Students solve challenging math problems, connect with peers worldwide, and join cultural exchange activities.

Yes. Top achievers in the Senior Secondary category (Grades 11–12) may receive scholarship discounts from selected universities.
